In a new step to expand European football's reach in North America, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the European Club Association (ECA) have entered into exclusive negotiations with a New York-based sports marketing company to sell the broadcasting rights for European competitions in North America.
These negotiations come as part of efforts to strengthen the relationship between UEFA, top European clubs, and agencies seeking to expand European football's reach in North America.
The European Football Association and UEFA announced the start of exclusive negotiations with a New York-based sports marketing company to sell the commercial rights for European club competitions in the North American region, starting from 2027.
The process is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. The New York Times reported that a Swiss sports marketing agency, which has collaborated with UEFA over the past 30 years, will continue to work with other partners worldwide.
This deal increases the likelihood of some UEFA Champions League matches being played in the United States in the future, a significant step towards expanding the fan base in the American continent.
